Two Months Since Baby Lisa Irwin Disappearance, No Firm Leads

Baby Lisa Irwin disappeared from her north Kansas City, Mo., home sometime in the night of Oct. 3 or morning of Oct. 4. It has been two months since Lisa has been missing. Neither her mother, Deborah Bradley, nor her father, Jeremy Irwin, know exactly what happened to the one-year-old child.

Here’s a look at recent developments in the case that is growing cold as time moves forward.

Command Post Disbanded

The Kansas City Star reported Nov. 23 the command post set up by the FBI and detectives was shut down. Instead of one centralized office handling the case, agents and authorities went back to their usual offices as leads dried up.

Around seven or eight detectives will remain assigned to the case as more leads are investigated. Other cases being worked on were suffering from having so many full-time investigators working on the case.

Home Vigils Stop

Parents of baby Lisa requested vigils outside their home stop as of Nov. 29. The Star reported Dec. 1 that Bradley and Irwin wanted a return to normalcy when asking a group called Lisa’s Angels to stop having weekly vigils.

Supposedly the people gathering in front of the house were causing concerns for the other children in the house. Edith Fine-Duskin, the leader of the group, vowed to find another location to hold regular vigils for Lisa.

America’s Most Wanted

America’s Most Wanted aired a segment Dec. 2 regarding the case. The popular show on Lifetime brought attention to the missing person case that has been ongoing for two months. At his point, any leads generated from the show have yet to be made public.

Psychic Controversy

Stephanie Almaguer, a self-proclaimed psychic, wrote on her blog Dec. 1 that she felt the controversy surrounding her involvement in the case was needless. The point, she states, was that her work “generated another search” which only helps solve the case.

Almaguer’s blog posted her “last attempt” to provide information on the case Dec. 4. Whether or not her involvement tones down remains to be seen.

Custody Hearing

Fox4KC reported Nov. 28 that a custody hearing for Lisa’s half brother was delayed until Dec. 7. The boy’s biological mother, Rasleen Raim, is going to court to seek custody rights of Lisa’s older sibling. The difficulty is that Raim hasn’t seen her child since he was two years old. The child is now eight and Irwin will be fighting the petition in Clay County Court.

NBC Action News reported the hearing Dec. 7 is in regards to a gag order on the case. If the order goes through, the media will have limited access to details in the custody battle.
